024 Joseph: Life in the Waiting Room
Wait.
In our hurry-up culture, it’s almost a dirty word. Yet waiting is not the exception in life, it’s the rule. Some of the greatest of God’s heroes had to wait a long time before His plan for them came to fruition.
One of them was Joseph.
Ten years have gone by. Ten years of servitude and imprisonment. Then just when he thought there might be hope of getting out of prison, he is let down again. Two more years pass before he finally gets his big chance. Two more years in life’s waiting room.
Remarkably, these years of waiting didn’t make Joseph’s heart bitter. They made his faith better.
What about you? You may not be in a literal prison, but you may be in God’s waiting room. The waiting room of infertility, joblessness, cancer treatment, singleness. And that waiting room can be hard.
But from heaven’s perspective, the waiting is a good thing because while we wait, God works. He works for us and He works in us. What He asks of us is to trust Him, stay close to Him...and wait while He works.
